Description
Pure Copper Woven Wire Mesh (99%)
We weave this 2.55mm hole heavy duty woven mesh from solid copper wire. We love working with copper mesh. It is so soft to cut and use compared to the stainless equivalent. Copper is the only metal that has a natural colour other than grey or silver. This makes it an ideal decorative metal.
The distinctive feature of our mesh is its wire thickness of 0.63mm. The robustness of the material ensures high resilience and durability, promising an extended lifespan even in the most challenging conditions. Yet, it is pliable enough to be molded to fit your specific needs, offering tremendous versatility.
Further enriching its functionality, each hole or aperture in the mesh is measured at 2.55mm. This optimal size ensures a significant open area of 64.25%, contributing to an excellent flow-through rate. This design ensures that while maintaining adequate protection, the mesh allows optimal airflow, moisture, and light, promoting energy efficiency and the flourishing of any living organisms present.

FAQs For This Product
Why Don’t Rats Like Copper Mesh?
Rats do not like copper wire mesh because it can cause discomfort or pain to their teeth and gums.
Copper is a soft metal that is relatively malleable, meaning it can be easily shaped or compressed. When rats try to chew or gnaw on copper mesh, it can bend or break off in their mouths, causing discomfort and pain.
Slugs and snails also hate copper mesh.
Can Copper Wire Mesh Be Used For RFI Screening?
Yes, 2.5mm hole copper wire mesh can be used for RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) screening due to its conductive properties. Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and can effectively block and absorb electromagnetic interference.
In applications where RFI screening is necessary, copper wire mesh can be used to create a Faraday cage, which is a shielded enclosure that can protect sensitive equipment or electronics from external electromagnetic interference. We usually recommend a very fine mesh for this purpose as a rule.
Can I Weld Copper Mesh Together?
Welding copper wire mesh together can be challenging due to the material’s high thermal conductivity and low melting point. Copper wire mesh has a melting point of around 1,085 °C (1,985 °F), which is relatively low compared to other metals such as plain steel.
While it is possible to weld copper wire mesh using various welding techniques, it requires specialised equipment and skills. One common method for welding copper wire mesh is spot welding, which involves using a spot welder to apply heat and pressure to the mesh at specific points, melting the copper wire and fusing the mesh together.
Another method for welding copper wire mesh is TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding, which uses a tungsten electrode and an inert gas to create a high-temperature arc that melts and fuses the copper wire together. This method requires a high level of skill and precision, as it can be difficult to control the heat and avoid damaging the mesh.
Because it requires so much skill, we would not recommend welding copper wire mesh as a rule.
