Woven Stainless Steel and Galvanised Steel welded wire mesh roll options are ideal for rodent proofing all vents, airbricks, soffits, under decking spaces and other areas in and around the home.
It can be difficult to exclude mice completely since they can pass through inch openings, approximately the width of a pencil, and rats can also squeeze through inch openings. Our Rodent Proof Wire Mesh products are ideally suited to both these applications.
Rodent Proofing Wire Mesh Roll
The Mesh Company Rodent Mesh can be used to seal up any holes, gaps, or vents in a property to prevent mice from entering your home or business.
Stainless steel mesh is designed to keep out many forms of rodent. Ideal for internal and external rodent screening applications, furthermore this light material is easy to install.
We stock steel wire mesh, copper mesh specialist gap fillers for rodent proofing. Rodent proof mesh has small 6mm holes to stop rats and mice getting through. The wires are 0.6mm or 0.7mm which will prevent the rodent from gnawing through the wire. Products made from stainless steel welded mesh provide a good level of protection against chewing and scratching, moreover they are more humane as part of a deterrence strategy.
The Mesh Company woven stainless steel mesh offers a high level of protection against corrosion. Moreover stainless steel is an alloy which is highly resistant to rusting and is therefore longer lasting than most other wire mesh types.
Stainless Steel Rodent Mesh
The grade of stainless steel that we use for these rolls is standard grade 304 stainless steel. This is the industry standard grade of stainless steel that is used in the woven mesh industry. It is long lasting and, equally importantly, it provides very good corrosion resistance.
You would require grade 316 stainless steel if you require to use the mesh in salt water or coastal environments as it uniquely resistant to corrosion.
Stainless Steel for Additional Corrosion Resistance:
Stainless steel is the gold-standard material for wire mesh, consequently it is the best selling range. If you want your mesh to last a lifetime than stainless steel is the metal for you.
Our Stainless steel wire mesh contains at least 16% chromium which makes it extremely resistant to corrosion. We offer a huge range of different specifications, available in both AISI304 and AISI316 grade stainless steel.
Grade | Chromium | Nickel | Molybdenum |
304 Stainless | 18% | 8% | 2% |
Galvanised Steel Rat Mesh
Our galvanised steel welded rodent mesh is our best selling product for this application. Welded galvanised wire is corrosion resistant and is suitable for both internal and external applications. Galvanised steel protects the mesh from rusting in outdoor settings, in addition to being a lower cost option than stainless steel.
This rodent mesh is ‘Hot Dipped After Welding’ which is better than other forms of welded mesh mesh, namely ‘electro galvanised’. Hot-dip galvanised mesh is far superior for outdoor applications due to the the coating being thicker and as a consequence it is more resistant to corrosion.

Mouse and Rodent Proof Mesh Specification
The stainless steel rodent mesh option has a 1mm hole and a 0.4mm wire. The wire per inch content is high in relation to the opening, so the mesh forms a very tough grid when used over small spaces especially. Furthermore the mesh has a good open area % so the flow of air through vents will not be impacted.
The galvanised steel option has a 23G wire and a hole size of a little over 6mm. Due to the fact that this is welded mesh it forms a very tough and stable grid, and it is very easy to apply to airbricks and vents to make a rigid barrier.
