Description
Pure Copper Woven Wire Mesh (99%)
We weave this 1.23mm hole coarse copper woven wire mesh from solid copper wire. We love working with copper mesh. It is so soft to cut and use compared to the stainless equivalent. Copper woven wire mesh has several uses and benefits, and the 1.23mm hole size is a popular option for various applications. This mesh size is perfect for insect screens, ventilation grilles, and filters that require a higher level of precision. Copper is known for its excellent thermal conductivity, which makes it a suitable material for applications that require heat transfer. It is also ideal as a slug and snail deterent.
Copper is the only metal that has a natural colour other than grey or silver. This makes it an ideal decorative metal. A red-orange colour is present in the raw metal, but this colour changes as it is exposed to the elements.
Architects and designers use natural verdigris or patina in their designs to create a distinctive effect. Final patinas are highly resistant to atmospheric corrosion, thereby protecting underlying metals from further weathering.

FAQs For This Product
Is Copper Mesh Good For Faraday Cage?
The effectiveness of a Faraday cage depends on several factors, including the size and pattern of the wire mesh, the conductivity of the material, the properties of copper, and the specific application.
In general, 1.23mm hole copper woven wire mesh can be a suitable option for Faraday cages, but it may not be the most effective choice for all applications. The size of the holes in the mesh will determine the frequency range of electromagnetic waves that can be blocked or attenuated. Usually smaller holes are preferable.
For example, if the Faraday cage is intended to block high-frequency signals, such as those used for radio and cell phone communications, a wire mesh with smaller holes and a tighter weave may be more effective. However, for lower frequency signals, such as those used for power transmission or AM radio, a larger hole size may be sufficient.
It’s also important to consider the conductivity of the material used for the wire mesh. Copper is a highly conductive material and is commonly used for Faraday cages, but other materials like silver or nickel may be even more conductive and therefore more effective.
How Would I Cut This Mesh?
We would use kitchen scissors to cut this mesh. Tin snips and wire cutters would work too, but for us would be overkill.
Would This Copper Wire Mesh Be Good For Blocking Rodents?
It would perhaps be too fine. We would recommend that you use either a heavier copper mesh, or something from our standard range of rodent control products.
Why Do Rodents Not Like Copper?
Rats and mice, do not like copper mesh because it can cause a mild electrical shock when they come into contact with it. Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity, and when it is in contact with a rodent’s body, it can create a small electric current that is uncomfortable and unpleasant for the rodent.
In addition to the electrical shock, the texture and scent of copper may also be unappealing to rodents. It is not known the exact cause of rodents’ dislike of copper, but it is certainly the case that they are repelled by it.
This mesh is also often used to block slugs and snails, as the too do not like certain properties of copper.
