The process begins with a flat sheet of galvanised steel, which is then fed into a machine called a perforator. The perforator uses a punch and die set to punch out holes in the steel sheet. The size and shape of the holes can be customized to meet specific requirements, such as hole diameter, spacing, and pattern.

FAQs For This Product

Why Is Hexagonal Hole Perforated Sheet Such A Good Decorative Mesh?

Hexagonal hole perforated sheet is a popular choice for decorative mesh because of its unique and attractive design.

The hexagonal shape of the perforations provides a visually pleasing pattern that can add a decorative touch to any project. Additionally, the hexagonal shape allows for greater versatility in design, as it can be used to create a variety of shapes and patterns.

The perforations also allow for improved ventilation and airflow, which can be useful in applications such as air filtration and ventilation systems.

Overall, hexagonal hole perforated sheet is a good decorative mesh due to its unique and attractive design, versatility, and practical benefits.

How Do I Cut This Metal Mesh?

Cutting galvanised hexagonal perforated metal mesh is a relatively straightforward process that can be accomplished using several tools. The most common tools for cutting galvanised metal mesh include a metal cutting saw, metal cutting snips, or a metal cutting disc for an angle grinder.

If using a metal cutting saw, it is recommended to use a blade designed for cutting metal, such as a carbide-tipped blade or a bi-metal blade. We advise that slow and steady cuts should be made, taking care to keep the blade perpendicular to the mesh to avoid bending or warping the metal. This is easily done.

Metal cutting snips can be used for smaller cuts or intricate shapes. The snips should be designed for cutting metal and should be able to handle the thickness of the galvanised mesh. We would not suggest using this method it at all possible as it is most likely to bend the metal when the blades of the snips meet the metal.

If using an angle grinder with a metal cutting disc, it is important to wear appropriate safety gear, including eye and ear protection. The grinder should be equipped with a cutting disc designed for cutting metal, and the mesh should be securely clamped down to prevent movement while cutting. Once the disc is in contact with the mesh, it should be moved slowly and steadily until the cut is complete. This method can achieve a very clean cut, but must be done carefully and correctly to avoid damaging the metal.

We would employ our industrial guillotine to cut this material.  This gives a straight cut, and easily manages the thicker sheet thicknesses.

Is This Available In Other Metal Options?

Yes, it is available in mild steel in both a 1mm and a 1.5mm thickness.

Can It Be Painted?

Yes, it is possible to paint galvanised hexagonal hole perforated metal mesh, but it is important to prepare the surface properly to ensure good adhesion of the paint. Galvanised metal has a protective layer of zinc that can prevent paint from sticking, so it is important to remove this layer before painting.

To prepare the surface for painting, the galvanised metal mesh should be cleaned and degreased using a mild detergent and water. Next, the surface should be lightly sanded or etched using a vinegar or acid solution to remove the zinc layer. After cleaning and etching, the mesh should be rinsed thoroughly with water and allowed to dry completely before painting.

When choosing paint, it is important to select a paint that is suitable for use on galvanised metal. Epoxy-based paints are a good choice, as they provide good adhesion and corrosion resistance. Alternatively, a primer designed for use on galvanised metal can be used before applying a topcoat of paint.

Alternatively, you can use a mild steel option as this is always better for painting applications.
