This top quality European made fly screens provides excellent netting for window screen. This is ideally used to block air-bricks, soffit vents etc for insect deterrent. This mesh is light but it does prevent birds and insects from gaining entry into holes, nooks and crannies. The most common use for this light mesh is as a door screen fly mesh.

We also cut this mesh using our slitting machine into smaller width soffit vent mesh rolls or sheets. These can be purchased through our insect mesh section.

Fly Screens Mesh Roll

Keeping out flies and other insects is easy with our black or grey PVC coated fiberglass fly mesh. It is a strong, clothlike material. To meet a wide variety of applications, we offer a variety of roll widths and lengths.

Insect screens can be produced on these wide rolls, or they can be used as roof coverings. As the mesh is fabric-like, a frame may be necessary as a support to provide rigidity. This is the case with all fly screen material.

By coating the mesh with PVC, the material is not only soft and easy to handle, but it also blends into the background. Black or grey fibreglass is therefore an ideal product for preventing insects from creeping in.

How To Install Window Screen Mesh?

For those who are considering fitting some insect screen mesh onto their windows or door, here’s our easy guide on how to do it yourself.

Materials Needed:

1. Fiberglass Mesh (2.5m x 1.2m) – black or grey
2. Screen Spline
3. Spline Roller Tool
4. Scissors or Utility Knife
5. Screen Frame (if not already installed)
6. Screwdriver or Drill (if installing a new frame)

Steps:

1. Measure and Cut: Before you start, ensure that you measure the window frame where you plan to install the mesh. The mesh should be cut slightly larger than the frame, allowing it to extend approximately 2.5 cm beyond the frame on all sides.

2. Lay Down the Mesh: Lay the mesh over the frame, ensuring it covers the entire frame and extends beyond the edges.

3. Insert Spline: Starting at one corner of the frame, insert the screen spline into the groove of the frame over the mesh. The spline, which is a flexible cord, will lock the mesh into the frame’s groove.

4. Use the Spline Roller: Using the spline roller tool, press the spline further into the groove. This will secure the mesh tightly in the frame. Roll the spline roller along the entire groove, making sure to keep the mesh taut and straight to avoid wrinkles.

5. Trim Excess Mesh: Once the spline is fully inserted and the mesh is tight, use a utility knife or scissors to carefully trim the excess mesh from the outside of the spline. Be sure to cut away from the screen to avoid cutting the mesh that is now part of the screen.

6. Install the Frame: If you’ve removed the frame, now is the time to install it back into the window. If you’re installing a new frame, it usually involves screwing the frame into the window opening. The exact installation will depend on the type of window and frame.

Now you should have a fully installed window screen, ready to keep those unwanted insects out. Regularly check the mesh for any damage or holes that might let insects in and replace or repair as necessary.

What Insect Mesh Do I Need For Window Fly Screen?

Ideally, you will need a fiberglass mesh. Fibreglass mesh is a fabric-like plastic mesh with a coloured PVC coating so it’s waterproof and durable which means the material is long-lasting and can be used outdoors. Fibreglass is also great as it is lightweight and easy to use therefore any project is quick and simple.

What Tools Do I Need To Fit Insect Mesh For Windows?

There are a few ways in which you can fit fly mesh screen to your windows, we recommend using detachable bonds such as Velcro or magnets. This is so you can remove the mesh netting in the winter months and replace it in the summer when necessary.

However you can also use more permanent attachments like staples which will require a staple gun or tape. You will also need a pen and scissors which are essential in the next part.

How Do You Fit The Mosquito Net To The Window?

Firstly, you will need to measure the perimeter of your window using a tape measure. Then with your fiberglass soffit mesh roll, unravel the necessary amount needed to cover the window then mark the corners of the perimeter with a pen. Note that you also need to leave an inch border around the perimeter which allows space for the attachments to bond to the window frame.

Next, you can use scissors to cut around the edge of the border before attaching the magnets or Velcro around the inch border section. Lastly with the window screen mesh, attach the other side of the bonds to the window frame.

If you want to use permanent bonds such as staples or tape, use the staple gun to attach the border to the frame or use double sided tape around the border and stick to the frame.
