        Galvanised Steel Rabbit Fencing

19mm galvanised steel rabbit fencing wire mesh is an extremely most popular type of garden mesh. We keep our stock volumes high, meaning that it is available for immediate dispatch off the shelf.

Rabbits are adorable little creatures that make great pets. However, they are also known for being expert escape artists. To keep your rabbit safely contained in your garden, it’s important to invest in quality fencing.

Using galvanised steel chicken wire can provide a durable and cost-effective solution. This type of wire mesh is not only sturdy enough to withstand the force of an energetic rabbit trying to escape but also rust-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor use. In addition, tit can be added to an existing fence to give additional rabbit proofing.

The Mesh Company has an enormous range of high quality garden mesh products.  With the capabilities we have in-house, we can provide virtually anything you require. As alternatives to this product we also offer green PVC chicken wire, wire fencing mesh and rodent mesh materials are also available in large stock quantities at bargain prices.

        Available Roll Sizes

These are the options that we have available for this wire fencing product:

        • Our standard roll lengths are 50 metres (165ft)
        • Our standard roll widths are 1200mm (4ft)

Galvanised chicken mesh is normally a metallic grey colour but it can also come in a green PVC coating in the same mesh specs for chicken runs. The green PVC coating gives extra protection and reinforcement for even more longer lasting use; but mainly it is brilliant for camouflage. This is available through our chicken wire section in various hole sizes.

        FAQs For This Product

        What Is Rabbit Netting

With a galvanised finish, agricultural wire mesh fencing is designed to be long-lasting, thicker and more durable. It can be used commercially as well as for domestic perimeter security. By using rabbit wire mesh fencing, certain areas where rabbits might cause damage can be protected from damage. The netting is heavily galvanised after manufacture and has salvage wires integrated into it, making it one of the most robust and strong nettings available. Rabbits will be prevented from digging under this netting by burying or turning it out in the direction of the threat.

In addition to enclosing certain areas or enclosures, rabbits can also be kept out of other areas by using netting. This rabbit fencing is both strong and safe, so you will not have to worry about the rabbits being injured.

Because of the galvanising process, this wire mesh is highly durable and designed to withstand a variety of pressure levels. As a result, they can be used in a variety of different situations, including:

        • Preventing rabbits or enclosing them
        • Protecting land, gardens, and allotments
        • Safeguarding the perimeter edge
        • Providing protection against larger animals, such as foxes

To further discourage rabbits and other burrowing animals from digging beneath the fence, part of the fencing can be buried in an L shape.

Can This Be Used To Replace An Existing Fence?

Chicken mesh can be used to replace an existing fence in some cases, but it depends on the specific requirements of the fence.

If the existing fence is low and is intended to keep small animals out, such as rabbits or dogs, then galvanised chicken wire may be a suitable replacement option. However, if the existing fence is a tall fence that is designed for privacy or to keep larger animals out, then chicken wire may not be a suitable replacement. This is because it needs support to hold its shape. For tall fencing we would suggest a heavier wired mesh, such as our green wire mesh.

Galvanised chicken wire is typically not as sturdy as other types of fencing, so it may not be able to withstand heavy wind or other weather conditions.

Is This Mesh A Deterrent Or For Protection?

        Both.

Galvanised chicken wire can be an effective deterrent and protector against rabbits. Rabbits are known to burrow and dig, so it’s important to ensure that the wire mesh is properly secured and buried at least 6 inches into the ground to prevent them from digging under it.  Additionally, it’s important to ensure that the wire mesh is tall enough to prevent rabbits from jumping over it.

In the same way as it can keep rabbits out, it can also keep them in. This mesh makes an ideal material for keeping your pets safe, as it can be used to make cages and runs.

What Can Be Used To Rabbit Proofing My Garden?

In addition to high quality mesh, there are several alternative measures that can be taken to rabbit-proof a garden:

        1. Physical barriers: Solid fencing, such as wood or metal, can be used to create a physical barrier to keep rabbits out. The fence should be at least 2-3 feet tall and buried at least 6 inches into the ground to prevent rabbits from digging underneath it.
        2. Raised garden beds: Raised beds can be used to create an elevated growing area that is more difficult for rabbits to access. The sides of the raised bed should be at least 2-3 feet tall to prevent rabbits from jumping into the bed.
        3. Repellents: Various repellents, such as predator urine or plants that rabbits dislike, can be used to deter rabbits from entering the garden.
        4. Traps: Live traps can be used to capture rabbits and relocate them to another area away from the garden.
        5. Pruning: As you may expect, keeping plants trimmed and well-maintained can reduce the amount of cover and hiding places for rabbits in the garden.
