Description

Stainless Steel Fine Metal Mesh

0.043mm hole 316 stainless steel fine metal mesh material in top quality 316 marine grade made from 0.035mm wire. As you can see from the image this is a fine mesh specification. The holes are very small and not especially visible by naked eye. It is of interest to anyone who needs a fine mesh for any application. As a result of the fineness of the wires, you would be able to bend and fold this mesh by hand very easily.

The fine metal mesh, crafted from 316 marine grade stainless steel, is designed for precision. Boasting an impressive Mesh Count of 325 holes per linear inch, it translates to an astounding 105,625 holes per square inch, providing a super-fine filtration capability. This mesh is tailored to filter the finest of powders, ensuring only the minutest particles pass through its intricate weave. With a wire thickness of 0.035mm, the mesh becomes slightly denser where the wires intersect, contributing to its robustness and durability. Despite its fine structure, an open area percentage of 30% ensures a balanced filtration rate, making it neither too slow nor too fast, just the right speed for various applications.

The mesh’s hole size, or aperture, measures at a precise 0.043mm, again reiterating its ultra-fine filtering capabilities. Moreover, the use of 316 marine grade stainless steel ensures longevity, resistance to corrosion, and suitability for various environments, including those with high humidity or salt concentrations.

When it comes to handling, the mesh is user-friendly. It can be effortlessly trimmed to desired sizes using standard kitchen scissors, or simply torn with fingertips, offering versatility in its applications. Whether you’re in the pharmaceutical industry sieving critical compounds or in the food industry dealing with super-fine ingredients, this fine metal mesh stands out as the go-to choice for all your ultra-fine filtering needs.

Specification Of This Mesh:

  • Mesh Count = 325 holes per linear inch. The amount of holes measured against a straight line inch
  • Holes / Wires Per Square Inch = 105,625 holes per square inch. The amount of holes per linear inch squared
  • Wire Thickness = 0.035mm. The thickness of each wire. The structure is thicker than this where two wires meet
  • Hole Size / Aperture = 0.043mm. This is the square hole size from wire to wire
  • Open Area % = 30%. The amount of the mesh that is open. The higher this number the more open a mesh is
  • Cut With – Standard kitchen scissors or fingers alone. We would use fingertips to tear this mesh to size

Perforated sheets are commonly often used in applications where the passing of air is required. Because the holes are punched, it is possible to have a far stronger finished metal product than it would be for the equivalent thickness in woven or welded mesh.

The Mesh Company has an enormous range of wire mesh products.  We truly are an industry leader among suppliers of weld mesh and woven wire materials. With the capabilities we have in-house, we can provide virtually anything you require. Chicken wire, insect meshing and rodent mesh materials are also available in large stock quantities at bargain prices.

FAQs For This Product

Can The Fine Metal Mesh Be Used In Laboratory Settings?

Yes, the fine metal mesh can be used in laboratory settings. Thanks to its 316 marine grade stainless steel composition, it is corrosion-resistant, making it a good choice for laboratory applications, especially those that involve chemicals. Its tight weave, with an aperture of 0.043mm, allows it to filter superfine powders, making it an excellent choice for laboratories. Its consistent structure ensures reliable results. Moreover, since it can be cut easily, it can be customized to fit specific laboratory equipment. Ensure the mesh’ specifications meet the requirements of the laboratory application before using it.

How Does This Mesh Compare To Synthetic Filtering Materials?

The fine metal mesh, specifically made from 316 marine grade stainless steel, offers several distinct advantages and differences when compared to synthetic filtering materials:

  1. Durability: Stainless steel mesh is incredibly durable and resistant to physical wear and tear. Synthetic materials might degrade or tear with consistent use or under high pressures, but metal mesh maintains its structure.
  2. Chemical Resistance: 316 marine grade stainless steel is renowned for its excellent corrosion resistance, especially in chloride-containing environments. It can withstand exposure to many chemicals without degrading, while certain synthetic materials might react or dissolve when exposed to specific solvents or solutions.
  3. Heat Resistance: Metal meshes can withstand higher temperatures than most synthetic materials. This property is crucial when filtering hot solutions or when sterilisation is required.
  4. Consistency: The fine metal mesh offers a consistent pore size, ensuring reliable and repeatable filtration results. While some synthetic filters may have inconsistent pore sizes, metal mesh manufacturing processes ensure uniformity.
  5. Cleanability: Stainless steel mesh can be easily cleaned and sterilised, making it reusable. Some synthetic materials might not be as easy to clean or might be single-use.
  6. Environmental Impact: As a reusable material that lasts for an extended period, stainless steel mesh can be more environmentally friendly than single-use synthetic filters.
  7. Cost: While the initial investment in stainless steel mesh might be higher than some synthetic materials, its longevity and durability can make it more cost-effective in the long run.

Can The Mesh Be Used In Automated Powder Filtering Systems?

The fine metal mesh, crafted from 316 marine grade stainless steel, is perfectly suited for integration into automated powder filtering systems. For automated processes that require precision, its uniform pore size ensures consistent and reliable filtration. In addition, stainless steel’s inherent durability allows the mesh to withstand mechanical stresses and pressures typical of automated systems. Furthermore, the mesh’s resistance to a wide range of chemicals ensures its longevity and reliability, especially in systems designed to handle diverse substances, making it an optimal choice for various automated filtration tasks.
