Medium | 25mm | 0.68mm |

Wire mesh can also be used for fencing, cages, plant support and as a barrier around the bottom of fruit cages. Chicken wire mesh is traditionally formed with hexagonal holes to give the product it’s strength and makes it easy to bend and form into any shape required.
Chicken Fence
The Mesh Company galvanised chicken wire is manufactured from steel wire that is then galvanised with a hot-dipped zinc coating. This process, carried out before the mesh is woven into shape gives an especially high level of corrosion resistance, so is far less likely to rust and will keep its grey finish, even in outdoor environments.
The galvanised coating on our chicken wire is protection against the elements and makes it an ideal choice for many applications including chicken coops, rabbit runs, deer fencing, garden fencing, and fruit cages.
- Core Material – Mild Steel
- Finish – Hot-Dipped Galvanised Before Weaving
Green PVC Coated Chicken Mesh
The Mesh Company Green PVC coated chicken wire is manufactured from galvanised steel wire that is then coated with PVC. Green PVC mesh is especially pleasing to the eye and more subtle in outdoor environments than the galvanised steel equivalent. The coating ensures that the product will have an even longer lifespan and is also a safer option than the standard galvanised mesh for use where animals and pets are involved.
PVC coated chicken wire is an ideal application where fence or crop protection is required to be discreet and blend in better in a garden, with a hedge or any grass area. Mesh can also be used at the bottom of tall fences to keep out rabbits and other animals.
Green PVC mesh is constructed in a hexagonal shape pattern for maximum reinforcement and can be bent and manipulated into any shape required.

How To Build A Chicken Run
Since launching this product, we have assisted hundreds of customers in making successful chicken coops and runs. Often, it can be difficult to plan how to use a mesh to build something from scratch, and we wish to assist in any way we can.
We wrote a full article on this subject recently; how to build a chicken coop using chicken wire. This will give you far more detail on this subject if you are interested to learn more.
The definition of a chicken coop is an indoor space for the chickens to rest and lay. A chicken run is usually outdoors, can be any size and is to allow them to forage and bathe.
Galvanised steel and green PVC chicken wire netting are both suitable for the construction of chicken coops and runs. You should use Welded Mesh for protection against larger predators such as Foxes and Rodent Mesh for protection against small vents and gaps.
Chicken runs need to have enough space for optimum movement and freedom. They will need to have shelter from the elements, but also have good ventilation. We recommend that you consider the upkeep and prepare the space before you start the build. Make sure that it is easy to clean and keep tidy. Most importantly, the space must be as secure as possible. It is also advisable to use a welded mesh buried 1ft deep to prevent Foxes from gaining entry underneath the structure.
