        Description

Galvanised Welded Wire Rodent Control Mesh

1/4″x 22 gauge galvanised welded mesh is ideal for use as a rodent control preventative measure.

22g welded wire mesh is hot dipped galvanised, and it is sourced from high-quality manufacturers. The square holes in welded wire mesh provide more structure than chicken wire.

Lightweight wire mesh is ideal for small animal enclosures such as rabbit runs and chicken coops. Besides garden applications, it can also be used for light-weight mesh fencing. A welded mesh has slightly more structure and rigidity than chicken wire netting. The mesh is hot-dipped galvanised in order to protect it from rust.

        Rodent Mesh On A Roll

As mesh specialists we offer an unparalleled range of options for keeping out both rats and mice. This wire mesh is a galvanised welded 6mm x 6mm square hole mesh. We also offer many options with smaller holes, thicker wires through the rodent mesh section of our site.

6mm square mesh provides an effective barrier to rats, but is also ideal to protect against mice as they cannot fit through a hole that small.

Stainless steel wire mesh is a harder material than mild steel and galvanised steel, so this is sometimes a preferred option for rat and mesh protection in office and factory environments. Stainless steel also offers additional resistance to corrosion and as a consequence is the more expensive option. Our stainless steel options with 1mm and 2mm hole sizes can also be used as an insect mesh as it blocks out larger insects including flies, bees, wasps and moths.

We have supplied rodent mesh to pest control specialists and large scale property companies to prevent pests from entering cavity walls and airbricks vents.

        Mesh Characteristics

Below is a quick breakdown of the key characteristics of this type of weld mesh:

        • Bending & Forming – Excellent. As steel wire is the core of this mesh this mesh is flexible. Steel wire is light and flexible, so the finished product is malleable
        • Corrosion Resistance – Good. It is produced from mild steel that has been zinc-dipped to give it a galvanised finish that protects it from the elements
        • Filtration – Poor. This mesh has a large open area, consequently it is popularly used for rodent control and not for filtration.
        • Welding – Possible. If the galvanised metal is properly prepared, they can be welded in the same way as uncoated steel
        • Painting – Poor. It’s best to paint plain steel since it doesn’t have a coating

        What Is Rodent Control Mesh?

Rodent control mesh is a type of wire mesh that has become a popular solution to prevent rodents and other pests from entering buildings and structures. It is commonly used in residential, commercial, and industrial applications to prevent rodent infestations.

Rodent control mesh is typically made from a strong and durable material, such as galvanised steel, stainless, or copper. Strong woven mesh create a barrier that is too small for rodents to pass through, while still allowing for adequate ventilation and airflow.

Rodent control mesh can be installed in a variety of areas to prevent rodents from entering, such as soffit vents, chimneys, and openings in walls or floors. It can also be used to sea

l gaps and holes around pipes and electrical wiring, which are common entry points for rodents.

Why Use Galvanised Steel For Rodent Control?

These are some reasons why galvanised steel rodent control mesh is so commonly used:

        1. High durability: It is a highly durable material that is resistant to corrosion and rust, making it an ideal material for outdoor and humid environments. It is second to stainless steel in terms of corrosion resistance.
        2. High strength: It is strong enough to withstand the gnawing and chewing of rodents and other pests. It is also strong enough to withstand external forces, such as wind and impacts.
        3. Cost-effective: Galvanised steel is a cost-effective solution for pest control compared to some of the other metals that we offer, such as copper or stainless steel.
        4. Easy installation: Our customers find the mesh to be easy to install, making it a popular choice for construction and renovation projects.

        5. Eco-friendly: Galvanised steel is a recyclable material that can be reused and repurposed, making it an eco-friendly choice for construction and renovation projects.

How Do I Use Galvanised Rodent Mesh?

Galvanised rodent mesh is a versatile material that can be employed in a variety of applications to prevent rodents and other pests from entering buildings and structures. Here are some steps you can take to use galvanised rodent mesh effectively:

        1. Identify the areas to be covered: Identify the areas where rodents and pests are likely to enter. This will include opportunities such as vents, chimneys, and openings in the walls or floors.
        2. Measure the area: Take detailed measurements to determine the size and amount of mesh required. Be sure to add a few extra centimetres to the measurement to ensure complete coverage.
        3. Cut the mesh to size: Use wire cutters or a cutting tool specifically designed for wire mesh to cut the material to the required size.
        4. Attach the mesh to the opening: Use screws, staples, or adhesive to attach the galvanised rodent mesh to the opening. Be sure to use a strong attachment method to ensure that the mesh stays in place and prevents rodents and pests from entering.
        5. Seal any gaps: Use a sealant or caulk to fill any gaps or holes around the edges of the mesh. This will prevent the rodents from breaking in from around the outside of the mesh.
        6. Inspect and maintain: Regularly inspect the mesh for signs of damage or wear, and replace it as needed. Be sure to clean and maintain the mesh periodically to ensure that it remains effective in preventing rodents and pests from entering.

Can 6mm Welded Mesh Be Used For Other Applications Besides Rodent Control?

Yes, 6mm welded mesh can be used for a variety of other applications besides rodent control. Here are some common applications for 6mm welded mesh:

        1. Fencing: 1/4″ welded mesh can be used to create strong and durable fencing for residential, commercial, and agricultural applications. It is commonly used as a security barrier, animal enclosure, or boundary fence. We suggest that you add as much structure as possible to the mesh to keep it upright and taut.
        2. Construction: 6mm welded mesh is often used as a reinforcement material in construction projects. Our customers have used this mesh to reinforce concrete structures, such as walls, floors, and foundations.
        3. Pet Enclosures: The most common use for this mesh is for creating pet enclosures, such as rabbit and guinea pig cages. This mesh has just the right about on holes and a thick enough wire to be perfect for this purpose.
        4. Landscaping: We have found that this weld mesh can be used in landscaping projects as a support structure for climbing plants or as a trellis for vegetable gardens.
        5. Artistic: Like chicken wire, this mesh can be used in artistic and decorative applications, such as sculptures, garden art, and architectural features.
