Description
Rat Mesh Roll
This Rat Mesh roll is our best selling mouse and rat control mesh material. It blocks both rats and mice, plus other unwanted creatures from gaining entry where they’re not wanted.
Galvanised rat mesh has a wire diameter of a little over 0.6mm and an opening size of 6mm (1/4 inch) to prevent rodents from passing through. The mesh is delivered by the roll and can be cut to size to fit specific areas or applications.
One of the advantages of galvanised rat mesh is that it is relatively affordable and easy to work with, making it a popular choice for DIY projects. It is also durable and can withstand exposure to harsh weather conditions, making it suitable for use in outdoor areas.

FAQs For This Product
How Do I Attach Rodent Mesh?
A variety of surfaces can be attached to galvanized welded rat mesh. Attaching galvanized welded rat mesh can be accomplished in several ways:
-
Staples are a good option for attaching mesh to wooden surfaces. Use a staple gun to attach the mesh to the wooden surface, making sure to space the staples no more than 6 inches apart to ensure the mesh is secure.
-
The mesh can be attached to metal or wooden surfaces with screws. Screw or drill the mesh into place, making sure to use screws of sufficient length to ensure a secure fit.
-
Use wire ties to attach items to a variety of surfaces quickly and easily. Make sure the wire ties are made from material that can support the weight of the mesh.
-
The mesh can be attached to smooth surfaces such as metal or plastic using adhesive. Adhere metal with a high-strength adhesive that can withstand weather exposure and is specially formulated for metal use.
-
Mesh can be attached to irregularly shaped surfaces with clips or clamps. Use clips or clamps that can be tightened to ensure a secure fit and are strong enough to support the mesh’ weight.
Does Rat Mesh Bend?
The wire used to make rat mesh can vary in thickness, so whether or not it can bend will depend on the specific type of mesh and the force applied.
In general, galvanized rat mesh can be bent with moderate force, especially if it is not supported by a solid frame or structure. However, it is designed to be sturdy and hold its shape, so it may take a significant amount of force to bend it into the required shape.
Can I Weld It Into Place?
It is generally not recommended to weld galvanized mesh, including 1/4″ welded mesh, as the high heat generated during the welding process can cause the zinc coating to evaporate and release harmful fumes. This process is known as “zinc fume fever,” and it can cause symptoms such as fever, chills, coughing, and shortness of breath.
If you must weld galvanized mesh, it is important to take appropriate safety precautions, such as working in a well-ventilated area, wearing a respirator, and avoiding direct exposure to the fumes. It may also be helpful to remove the zinc coating from the area where the weld will be made before beginning the welding process. This can be done using a wire brush or a chemical solution specifically designed for removing galvanization.
Can I Use Rat Mesh Rolls For Airbricks?
Installing rat mesh roll material in an air brick can help to prevent rats and other pests from entering through the ventilation system. Here are the steps to follow to install rat mesh in an air brick:
- Measure the size of the air brick and cut the rat mesh roll material to the appropriate size if required. Make sure to leave enough material around the edges to securely attach it to the air brick.
- Clean the air brick to remove any debris or obstructions. This will help to ensure that the mesh will fit properly and stay securely in place.
- Attach the rat mesh to the air brick using cable ties or other fasteners. Start by attaching the mesh by the corner of the air brick, and then work your way around, pulling the mesh taut as you go. Use enough fasteners to securely hold the mesh in place, making sure that there are no gaps or openings where pests could enter.
- Trim any excess mesh from the edges using wire cutters or other cutting tools. Make sure that the edges are flush with the air brick to prevent any gaps or openings.
- Finally, check the mesh to make sure it is securely attached and free from any gaps or openings. Test the air flow through the air brick to ensure that it has not been restricted by the mesh.
