        It is an ideal mesh product for protecting internal spaces from flies and wasps. 

        But how is it made? Is it right for my project? How do I dispose it when I am done? 

        This detailed article aims to answer these questions and many more.

        How Is Fiberglass Insect Mesh Produced?

        It is produced using a process called fiberglass weaving. This process involves weaving together individual fibers of glass to create a mesh-like material. The fibers are first melted into a liquid form and then pulled through a machine to create individual fibers. These fibers are then woven together to create the mesh material.

        The production process typically involves using a loom to weave the fibers together in a specific pattern, such as a plain weave or twill weave, to create a mesh that is strong and durable. The mesh can be treated with chemicals to improve its resistance to UV light and to prevent degradation from weather and other environmental factors.

        Once the mesh is produced, it is then cut into sheets or rolls and packaged for distribution. The finished product is a strong and lightweight material that can be used for a variety of applications, including insect screening, shading, and reinforcement for composite materials.

        Fiberglass vs Stainless Insect Mesh

        Fiberglass and stainless steel insect mesh are both commonly used materials for insect screening and pest control, but they have some important differences that make them better suited to different applications.

However, stainless steel is heavier and more expensive than fiberglass, and may be more difficult to install in some applications.

        How Do I Fit Fiberglass Fly Screen?

        Fitting fiberglass mesh to make a fly screen involves the following steps:

        1. Measure the area where the mesh will be fitted: Measure the height and width of the window or door frame, or the area to be screened.
        2. Cut the mesh to size: Cut the mesh to the required size using scissors or a sharp knife. Allow for an additional 2-3 cm around the perimeter to ensure a snug fit.
        3. Install the mesh: Depending on the application, there are several methods for installing fiberglass insect mesh, including using a frame, tucking the mesh into a groove, or using adhesive or clips to secure the mesh in place.

        Does Fiberglass Make A Good Soffit Vent Strip?

However, it is not as durable as other materials, such as aluminium or plastic, and may be prone to breakage over time.         4. Attach the mesh: Attach the mesh to the soffit using a staple gun, nails, or screws, depending on the material of the soffit. Make sure the mesh is secure and there are no gaps.
        5. Seal the edges: Seal the edges of the mesh using a silicone sealant to prevent moisture or insects from entering the attic.
        6. Test: Test the mesh by turning on the bathroom fan or other ventilation system to make sure air is flowing through the vent opening.

        Which Colour Should I Choose?

        The best colour for fiberglass insect mesh is subjective and depends on the specific application and personal preference. Some popular colour options for fiberglass insect mesh include grey, white, and black.

        Grey is a neutral colour that is well-suited to a wide range of applications, and it is often used in residential and commercial buildings. White is a bright and clean colour that provides a high level of visibility and can help to maximize light transmission. Black is a classic colour that provides a high level of privacy and can be well-suited to some types of applications, such as screen doors and windows.

        Can It Be Used As A Pollen Mesh?

        1mm fiberglass insect mesh may not be an effective pollen mesh as the mesh size is relatively large and may not effectively filter out small pollen particles. Pollen particles are typically much smaller than 1mm in size, so a mesh with a smaller mesh size or a tighter weave may be more effective at filtering out pollen.

        If pollen control is a primary concern, it is recommended to choose a mesh with a smaller mesh size or a tighter weave, such as a mesh with a mesh size of 0.5mm or less. This type of mesh will have a finer weave and will be better equipped to filter out pollen particles.

        Can It Be Recycled?

        Yes, fiberglass insect mesh can be recycled. The recycling process for fiberglass involves melting down the old material and forming it into new products, such as insulation, building materials, or even new insect mesh.

        Recycling fiberglass insect mesh conserves natural resources, reduces energy consumption, and reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. It also helps to reduce the carbon footprint of the manufacturing process, as the energy required to produce new fiberglass from recycled materials is typically lower than the energy required to produce new fiberglass from raw materials.
