Pre-Galvanized Welded Wire Mesh

Pre-galvanization, also known as hot-dip galvanization, involves immersing the wire in a bath of molten zinc prior to the welding process. The resulting wire mesh is extremely durable, thanks to a thick coating of zinc that helps protect against rust and corrosion.

The major advantage of pre-galvanized wire mesh is its superior durability. The thick zinc coating creates a sturdy layer of protection that can stand up to harsh weather conditions and heavy use. However, it’s worth noting that the welding process can reduce the effectiveness of the galvanization at the weld points, which can become points of vulnerability over time.

Electro-Galvanized Welded Wire Mesh

Electro-galvanization, on the other hand, is a process that involves applying a layer of zinc to the wire mesh through electrolysis, after the welding process. The zinc coating is typically thinner than the one achieved through pre-galvanization, which results in a smoother finish.

Electro-galvanized wire mesh is appreciated for its aesthetic appeal, thanks to the smoother and more uniform finish. It also offers good resistance against rust and corrosion, though not quite as robust as the pre-galvanized version.

However, since the galvanization occurs after welding in the case of electro-galvanization, all weld points are also covered in zinc, which eliminates the vulnerabilities that can occur with pre-galvanized mesh.
